Buttermilk and Chive Biscuits


2 cups (500 mL) All-purpose flour

1 tsp (5 mL) Salt

2 tsp (10 mL) Baking powder

5 tbsp (75 mL) Tenderflake® Lard

2 tbsp (30 mL) Chopped fresh chives or green onions

1 tbsp (15 mL) Chopped fresh parsley

1 cup (250 mL) Buttermilk

¾ cup (175 mL) Grated Cheddar cheese

4 tbsp (60 mL) Butter, melted

These Buttermilk and Chive Biscuits will have your family and friends wanting more!


PREHEAT oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

COMBINE flour, salt and baking powder in a large bowl. Using a fork or pastry cutter, cut lard into flour until mixture resembles course crumbs. Add herbs, cheese and buttermilk and stir to combine. Using an ice-cream scoop or spoon, drop dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Lightly brush the top of each with melted butter. Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes.
